In Bhavnagar district, more than 9% voting has taken place in 28 general, sub and mid-term gram panchayat elections on Sunday and the candidates have been sealed in the future ballot box. Voters lined up at polling stations as polling began in the morning. The turnout was low due to the cold weather in the morning but then crowds of people turned out to cast their votes. Voters have cast their ballots enthusiastically and the election is over in a peaceful atmosphere. More than 2.5 lakh voters have cast their votes. The counting of votes will take place next Tuesday.

General, division, mid-term, by-elections of Gram Panchayat were organized in the district from 9 am to 6 pm on Sunday. There were 24 gram panchayat elections, including general gram panchayat elections, by-elections in 19 villages and mid-term elections in 4 villages. The turnout in this election is more than 4%. Nothing went wrong during the election and the election was completed in a peaceful atmosphere, Election Department sources said. Voting started at 9 am. Voters lined up at the polling booths in some villages early in the morning, while in some villages the turnout was low due to cold. After 8 o’clock in the morning, a crowd of voters had gathered at the polling booths and the voters had cast their votes enthusiastically. Candidates and supporters in some villages also tried to get more votes, so the turnout was good in some villages, while the turnout was low in some villages.
It may be mentioned that in Bhavnagar district about 4,122 candidates are contesting the elections, out of which 3,08 candidates are now in the fray in the general gram panchayat elections, including 545 candidates for the post of sarpanch and 2,852 candidates for the post of ward member. In the by-elections, 51 candidates are in the fray, including 35 for the post of sarpanch and 6 for the post of ward member. In the mid-term elections, there will be an election battle between 6 candidates, including 4 candidates for the post of Sarpanch and 20 candidates for the post of ward member. A total of 6 polling booths were set up for the Gram Panchayat elections.
In the Gram Panchayat elections, there were 2,75,23 males, 2,75,150 females and a total of 5,10,8 voters were registered, in which many voters cast their ballots, while 35 to 40 per cent voters abstained from voting for any reason. In this election 30 out of 1950 ballot boxes were used. In the general and mid-term elections, 200 ballot boxes were used, while in the by-elections, 60 ballot boxes were used. A total of 312 employees performed their duty in the election of 27 gram panchayats of Bhavnagar district. In the general and mid-term elections, 9,85 employees were on duty, including 8 election officers, 4 assistant election officers and 4,98 polling staff. In the by-elections, six staff members were on duty, including 18 election officers, 12 assistant election officers and 203 polling staff. The police had put in place tight security measures to prevent any untoward incident during the election. About 151 police personnel were on duty during the election. Who will the voters win and who will lose on Tuesday when the fate of the voters is now sealed in the ballot box? It will be known.
